Director of Development
The Houston Botanic Garden is seeking a Director of Development who will report to the President & CEO and provide leadership to and work collaboratively with two full-time staff — a Membership Manager and a Grants Manager. This position will also be a point-of-contact for the Garden’s strong, dedicated Board of Directors, as well as any development contractor/consulting resources.
Manager of Adult Programs
The Houston Botanic Garden is seeking a Manager of Adult Programs who will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing programmatic initiatives geared to the adult audience. This role will manage existing programs and determine growth areas, as well as oversee aspects of Garden-wide programs that have educational components, while developing new replicable, scalable, and profitable programs for adult audiences. These include, but are not limited to, Garden-wide special events, exhibitions, interpretive signage, and off-site programs.
GIS Specialist
The Houston Botanic Garden is seeking a GIS Specialist who will be responsible for leading the continued development of the plant collections inventory system, plant data collection, and mapping. This role involves ensuring the proper maintenance and documentation of plant collections and, under the direction of the Director of Horticulture, plays an active role in the Garden’s effort to integrate research and collection strategies with institutional projects and community engagement opportunities.
Horticulturist (2 openings)
The Houston Botanic Garden is seeking two full-time horticulturists, one to support the Gulf Coast Prairies and Native Spaces and one to support the Stormwater Wetlands and Family Garden. These positions are important members of the horticulture team, emphasizing native plant horticulture, habitat stewardship, and ecological best practices. The Gulf Coast Prairies and Native Spaces Horticulturist will be responsible for the cultivation, maintenance, and ecological management of the Garden’s Coastal Prairie, meadow, and native plant landscapes. The Stormwater Wetlands and Family Garden Horticulturist will be responsible for the horticultural and ecological management of stormwater wetlands, aquatic plant communities, and landscapes within the Susan Garver Family Discovery Garden.
Horticulture Intern
The Houston Botanic Garden is seeking applicants for its Horticulture Summer Internship Program, a 10-12 week immersive experience for students or recent graduates who are pursuing or have recently obtained an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in: horticulture, plant science, ecology, environmental studies, botany, biology or related field. The Intern will gain hands-on experience by working alongside HBG horticulture professionals, starting with a three-week introduction into public gardens, followed by two, five-week rotations throughout the Garden. The Intern will also receive regular training from their mentors during the duration of the internship.
Summer BotaniCamp Teachers
The Houston Botanic Garden is seeking two seasonal, part-time Summer Camp Teachers for BotaniCamp, our 6‑week nature-based summer camp for children ages 5-11. BotaniCamp Teachers are responsible for leading daily camp operations, engaging campers, and creating a fun, welcoming, and educational environment. Ideal candidates have classroom teaching experience and are enthusiastic, dependable, and comfortable working outdoors during Houston’s summer months.

The Houston Botanic Garden is seeking 2-4 seasonal, part-time Summer Camp Counselors to support BotaniCamp, our 6‑week summer camp program for children ages 5-11. BotaniCamp Counselors are responsible for supporting daily camp operations, engaging campers, assisting lead teachers, and helping cultivate a fun, educational, and welcoming environment. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic, dependable, and comfortable working outdoors in Houston’s summer climate.
