On nights Radiant Nature is open (from sunset through 10 p.m.), the Garden closes to day-time visitors at 4 p.m.

March 23 – June 2, 2024

The Houston Botanic Garden is bringing ZimSculpt, an award-winning international exhibition of unique, handcrafted stone sculptures created by Zimbabwean artists, to the city this spring.

By visiting the Garden during ZimSculpt, Houstonians will be able to browse hundreds of semi-precious stone pieces, view live sculpting demonstrations, and shop a one-of-a-kind marketplace of fine African art.

ZimSculpt serves to promote the work of Zimbabwean sculptors practicing the Shona sculpture tradition, which is named for the nation’s largest tribe. Since the 1960s, artists from various tribes in Zimbabwe, and beyond, have been transforming locally sourced serpentine stone into smooth, highly polished contemporary works. Visitors to ZimSculpt will have the opportunity to watch artists demonstrate their process live each day, using hand tools including chisels, hammers, and files.

ZimSculpt will enhance visits to the Garden from March 23 through June 2. Tickets for the exhibition are included in general admission to the Garden, which is $15 for adults and $10 for children Friday through Sunday; or $12.50 for adults and $8 for children and students on discount days, Monday through Thursday. Garden members can use the number of free general admissions associated with their level of membership to see ZimSculpt at no additional charge.
