Joanna Botvin, the Garden’s education coordinator and in-house herbalist, will introduce some of the powerful herbal allies that are native to Central and South American countries yet also highly adaptable to Houston’s climate. Participants will learn how to grow selected medicinal herbs – some they might be familiar with from cooking, as well as some they may have never heard of — and explore their origins and uses as traditional remedies throughout Latin American cultures.
Non-member fee of $30 includes admission to the Garden and bundled herbs to take home. Garden remembers receive a $10 discount.
Medicinal Herbs of Latin America is presented with sponsorship support from AARP in Texas.
Houston Botanic Garden offers free parking for most events, which are often held in climate-controlled environments, rain or shine. If you have specific questions, please email education@hbg.org.
