Somatic Mindfulness

You visit the Houston Botanic Garden for the slower pace, the peace, and, of course, the nature. Yet it’s surprisingly easy to get stuck in your head—thinking about work, your to-do list, or what’s next. Before you know it, the visit is over, and the time that was supposed to help you “be here now” has come and gone.

This Somatic Mindfulness program is your chance to experience the Garden in a way that actually stays with you. Through body-based mindfulness practices, you’ll learn how to take in your surroundings in a way that leaves you feeling more grounded, clear, and restored.

We’ll begin with a few approachable exercises to help you settle into the present moment (no experience needed). From there, you’ll be guided on a mindful walk through the Garden, with space to explore whatever draws your attention. You’re welcome to journal or sketch along the way, or simply tune into your senses. We’ll close together with grounding and reflection—helping you integrate the experience more fully and carry it with you beyond your time in the Garden.

This event is open to anyone curious about slowing down, tuning in, and connecting with nature more deeply.

About the Facilitator
Katy Dimple Manning, LCSW-S, is a Houston-based therapist who helps thoughtful, high-functioning people move out of patterns like people-pleasing, chronic guilt, and perfectionism. Her work focuses on untangling entrenched patterns through body-based, relational approaches—balancing here-and-now strategies with deeper work for meaningful, lasting change.
