Nia in the Garden

Music, Movement & Mindfulness

WHEN
October 8, 2023 2:00 pm -
October 8, 2023 4:00 pm

The Houston Nia Collective returns to the Houston Botanic Garden to lead an immersive community dance routine called “Resilience,” inspired by trees rooted to the earth, with trunks that bend with the wind and leaves that dance in the breeze. The music and movement of Resilience invite you to use your imagination and the imagery of the Garden around you to enhance your physical experience. The routine uses the feet to create stability as participants squeeze and release from their core, with their arms and fingers expressing their spirit.
.

Nia in the Garden will include:

  • 60-minute guided movement experience, using the form and freedom of easy-to-follow dance and simplified martial arts to stimulate healing and conditioning
  • Silent walking meditation to awaken senses and appreciation for nature
  • Refreshing closing elixir and nourishing snack to refresh and rejuvenate the body
  • Take-home gift from the Nia hosts

Non-member fee of $47 includes general admission to the Garden. Members receive a $10 discount.

Houston Botanic Garden offers free parking, and our events are often held in climate-controlled environments, rain or shine. If you have specific questions, please email education@hbg.org.
