In this month’s workshop in our Garden Success series, senior horticulturist Laura Webb will present tips and tricks for successful container gardening. Together, we will learn about and create a beautiful container garden to take home.

Each attendee will create, pot, and go home with their very own 10-inch terracotta pot filled with up to 5 plants and quality soil.

Instructor Bio: Laura Webb, senior horticulturist at the Garden, has 15 years of horticulturist experience in Houston. Laura’s love for plants started during her first job watering plants at a local nursery. Laura has earned a Bachelor of Science in horticulture and is currently working toward a Master of Science in agriculture from Washington State University, where she is researching the need to reevaluate standard horticultural practices in southeast Texas. Laura loves container gardening because it allows us to garden anywhere, especially in small spaces. Laura appreciates the drama of cascading plants in container gardening, because it enhances the beauty of plants with lengthy stems.

What to wear: Comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting some dirt on.
What to expect: Please allow yourself at least 15 minutes to arrive and situate yourself at the Garden. The Houston Botanic Garden offers free parking. Upon arrival, please show your electronic ticket to the entrance attendant. The restrooms are located in the Welcome Pavilion, past the Garden Shop, close to the entrance. We will meet in the Culinary Garden Tent, an air-conditioned space overlooking the garden, a few minutes’ walk from the entrance.
