Land Care Institute Celebration

Dive Deep Into Regenerative Landscaping

The Houston Botanic Garden invites everyone — from experienced landscape professionals to anyone with a patch of ground at home they are responsible for — to join the participants enrolled in the new Land Care Institute for a day of in-person learning about regenerative landscaping and networking with like-minded individuals who are seeking to embrace landscaping as a functional and holistic benefit to people and the planet, not just a purely aesthetic endeavor. The Land Care Institute seeks to inspire and prepare participants to not only design beautiful landscapes, but also support landscape function by creating balanced, well-designed systems that reduce waste, save costs, mitigate challenges, and connect us to nature.

This special event marking the culmination of the inaugural class of Land Care Institute participants will feature four lectures, a panel discussion, and a time of networking and celebration with refreshments.

Schedule:

  • 9:00 a.m. — Landscape Plant Alternatives, Dany Lenderman, Owner & Operator, Enchanted Forest
  • 10:00 a.m. — Organic Tree Care, Planting & Pruning, Brad Phillips, International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Board Certified Master Arborist
  • 11:00 a.m. — Lunch Break (included in registration)
  • 11:50 a.m. — Biological Pest Control: How Understanding Insect Biology Can Lead to Natural Pest Management, Erin Mills, Education Manager & Entomologist, Houston Botanic Garden
