Walking Meditation

Mindfulness in the Garden

WHEN
November 1, 2026 3:30 pm -
November 1, 2026 5:00 pm

Life is busy — maybe even chaotic — and we all need a chance to slow down and tune into ourselves. So naturally, we seek out nature to provide some peace of mind. Yet, even in a serene setting like the Houston Botanic Garden, it’s easy to get swept up in our thoughts.

Whether you’re replaying a conversation in your head, thinking about your to-do list, or even just spacing out, before you know it, you’re mentally somewhere else, and your trip to the Garden whizzes by.

But here’s the good news: with a little structure, intention, and community connection, being present feels more intuitive — instead of one more task on your to-do list. And that’s exactly what the Garden is offering when Katy Dimple Manning, LCSW-S, will facilitate a walking meditation experience at the Garden.

The event will start with attendees gathering to learn a few grounding and mindfulness skills, practicing them together, and connecting with one another (speaking is totally optional!). Then Katy will provide an overview of different ways to approach walking meditation, so you can choose what works best for you. Attendees will have the chance to either break off on their own, or, for more structure, they can stick with Katy, who will be providing guidance aloud while still allowing plenty of quiet moments for inner reflection.

We will conclude with participants coming together one final time to close out and share any reflections, insights, or feedback and wrap up the event mindfully.

Non-member ticket price: $20
Member ticket price: $5
