The Houston Botanic Garden presents Flower Power, a new spring festival celebrating our hippest blooms. Join us on Sunday, April 13, for a day of flower-focused family fun and an afternoon concert from Houston-based Beatles and 60s music tribute band The Fab 5, from 2-4 p.m. Stevie the Photo Bus, a vintage VW with a built-in photo booth, will be on-site from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., for groovy photo ops.

In addition, attendees can enjoy a Family Fun Zone with floral-themed and tie-dye crafts; shop a festive market featuring local artists and vendors; test their knowledge of plants and 60s trivia; buy selected plants from the Garden; browse information stations staffed by select nonprofit organizations; and snap plenty of beautiful photos with colorful blooms. Access to the entire Garden — including the new exhibition Rich Soil by artist Kristine Mays and the “Habitat” exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service — is also part of the Flower Power experience.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite floral prints and/or hip 60s attire.

Concessions, including adult beverages, will be available for purchase; outside food and drink are prohibited.

Festival tickets are $20 for adults and $16 for seniors 65+, active military, students, and children age 3 and older. Garden members can use the general admission benefit(s) associated with their level of membership toward the cost of a festival ticket(s).

Attendees can also choose to participate in one or two add-on “Groove it, do it” craft experiences, while supplies last:

  • Vintage vinyl painting – $10 per 7-inch vinyl
  • Flower crown making – $3 per fresh cut crown

*Look for the Plant Sale Booth in the Garden’s Pine Grove to add on one, or both, of the “Groove it, do it” experiences.

NOTE: Bring your own lawn/camp chair(s). General seating for The Fab 5 performance is first-come, first-served.

Houston Botanic Garden offers free parking for daytime events, which are held rain or shine.
