How the Garden Made It

On Sept. 18, 2025, the Houston Botanic Garden celebrated 5 years since its grand opening in 2020, during the height of a global pandemic, and right before a historic freeze that would set the tone for what was to come. Through the years and a roller coaster of climate-related challenges and setbacks, the Garden has persisted and our staff have learned important lessons in resilience alongside the greater Houston community. Join us for this special presentation by Horticulture Communications Specialist, Cory Saul, who will provide a look into the hard-fought conception, creation, and evolution of Houston’s Garden.

Schedule:

  • Pre-lecture reception under Culinary Oaks, featuring free beer provided by Saint Arnold Brewing Company
  • “Developing Texas Grit” lecture in Culinary Garden Tent
  • Guided walking tour of Global Collection Garden to discover adaptations of original designs

Non-member Ticket Price: $20
Member Ticket Price: FREE
